The Proof of the Pudding!

We used a Rohde and Schwarz Radiocommunication Analyser to measure the following performance on our prototype. All measurements were taken in SSB mode with a bandwidth of 2.5KHz

Band in MHz Sensitivity in uV for 10 dB SINAD
1.8 0.35
3.7 0.28
7.0 0.24
10.0 0.25
14.0 0.25
18.0 0.32
21.0 0.50
24.0 0.35
28.5 0.40

The slightly anomalous value at 21MHz is probably due to noise or reduced spectral purity from the VFO. This is still being investigated.

Sideband suppression varies from better than 45dB on 7MHz to better than 35db at 28Mhz (both measured at an audio signal frequency of 1KHz.

SSB selectivity 2.4Khz at -6db and 3.6Khz at -60 dB.

Arguably, this is not DX competition performance, however it compares well with standard commercial transceivers like the ICOM 725. The clarity of the audio must be heard to be believed. The receiver has about 70dB of AGC so when tuning the band the AF volume control will occasionally require adjustment to cope with varying signal levels.

In Europe there is no sign of Broadcast band interference or spurious responses resulting from them. We used a full size 80 meter dipole during our listening tests and a BC348 tuning knob!. The receiver is unusually quiet.
